Steve Mitchell

Steve Mitchell

Steve Mitchell is CEO of Mitchell Research & Communications, Inc. He has worked in more than 40 states since 1985. Political clients have included governors, U.S. Senators, Members of Congress, state legislators, mayors, judges, school districts, cities, townships, counties, and states.

He founded the company after working on the national staff of Reagan-Bush ‘84.

He has been a consultant and pollster on hundreds of winning campaigns for political candidates and for governmental organizations seeking passage of millage or bonding proposals. Steve Mitchell served as on-air analyst and pollster for KSDK-TV in St. Louis,as well as KCAL-TV and KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, KFSN in Fresno, and KOVR-TV in Sacramento.

He was a pollster for the Detroit News, Detroit Free Press and WDIV-TV in Detroit from 1996-2014. He was a regular guest on Devin Scillian’s weekly Sunday morning Flashpoint program on WDIV-TV from 2001-2014. He left WDIV-TV after being retained by Fox 2 Detroit (WJBK-TV) to be its pollster starting in September 2014. He returned to WDIV-TV in 2017.

He has served as an analyst for Fox News Channel, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, BBC, Fox Business News, Financial Times of London, Washington Post, Washington Times, Houston Chronicle, Newsweek Magazine, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and other media around the country and the world.

He is currently Chair of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, former Member of Michigan Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board, and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Northern Michigan University, and former member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Society of Association Executives.

 

Suzie Mitchell

Suzie Mitchell

Suzie Mitchell, President, COO, of Mitchell Research & Communications, Inc. has more than 30 years of experience in the communications industry.  She has operated as a strategic executive, supporting an extensive range of client requests with their communications and business development needs. She has a proven background in the communications industry to provide cross-functional direction in the business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) sectors.

She served as President and CEO  of the Michigan Responsibility Council, which oversaw an initiative to develop regulation and standardization within the medical marijuana industry in the state of Michigan, promoting the advancement of studies legitimizing the use of cannabis in healthcare through research, educational seminars, publications, and policy analysis.

 She’s been a newspaper reporter, magazine writer, press secretary, media strategist, B2B writer, blogger, public relations executive, and national fundraiser. Her work has appeared in numerous national and international magazines and newspapers. She wrote a  regular blog for AARP on technology and Baby Boomers and co-authored books on the subject.She also served as Director of Public Information for former Oakland County Executive Dan Murphy from 1983-1991. She holds a bachelor's degree in communication from Michigan State University and has completed specialized training in public relations from New York University.

 

Justin Clement

Justin Clement

Justin Clement is the firm’s lobbyist and expert in all things government relations. He leads Mitchell -Clement Legislative Affairs, the firm’s multi-client lobbying portfolio, which is a division of Mitchell Research & Communications.

Prior to joining the MR&C team, Justin was a lobbyist for another multi-client lobbying firm in the Lansing area for six years. There he stewarded for multiple pieces of legislation that became public acts and state appropriations on behalf of his clients.

He has relevant relationships that span both sides of the aisle in the Legislature and the Administration. From the idea that a client has, Justin is the person that will connect it to the right strategy and message to get the job done. 

Justin has always endeavored to give back with an emphasis on returns, serving as the Governance Committee Chair for the Board of Directors with the Michigan Youth in Government(MYIG) program. The MYIG program provides high school and middle school students with a unique opportunity to become acting state legislators, Governors, lobbyists, and lawyers.  In November of 2018, former Governor Rick Snyder appointed Justin to The Michigan Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons to represent the general public while fulfilling a partial term that was previously vacated.

Justin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Relations and Policy as well as a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Michigan State Universities’ James Madison College.
